Family, Food, and Festivities: How Apex Celebrates the Holidays

The holiday season brings with it the warmth of beloved traditions—rituals that create lasting memories, bring families closer, and fill our hearts with gratitude. We reached out to some of our Apex Risk team members to hear about the holiday customs that mean the most to them.

From generations-old recipes to cozy Christmas Eve routines, these traditions are what make the season special. Join us as we take a closer look at how our Apex Risk family celebrates, and perhaps you’ll find a bit of inspiration for your own holiday season!

Peter’s Pajama Tradition: Cozy and Casual Christmas

For Peter Katkov and his family, Christmas Eve kicks off with a unique tradition that’s all about comfort and connection: an annual pajama exchange.

Peter shares, “Our family has always exchanged pajamas on Christmas Eve (which our kids don’t think is that exciting) that we rock all day on Christmas. PJ X-Mas dinner is the best!”

Lucy’s Kris Kringle Brunch: A Multigenerational Feast

For Lucy Busby, the heart of the holiday season is Christmas morning brunch.

Lucy shares, “One of my favorite holiday traditions is our Christmas morning brunch. Every Christmas morning my entire family (both sets of grandparents, aunts, uncles, parents, 2 sisters) meet at my parents house for mimosas, quiche, fruit, and my absolute favorite pastry – kris kringle! My grandma Lulu has made the kris kringle every year since I was born, her mom before that (the original recipe that we still use is in my great-grandma’s handwriting), and now my mom and sisters and I have taken over. We all sit at the table and chat, with varying levels of hearing ability, but we all feel so blessed to have such a close family who truly enjoys spending time together. Very lucky!”

Melissa’s Culinary Celebration: A Feast of Flavors

For Melissa Diaz, the highlight of the holiday season is the abundance of food that brings family and friends together. From savory favorites to sweet treats, Melissa’s holiday table is filled with a variety of delicious dishes that celebrate the culinary talents of her loved ones.

Melissa remarks, “The food! I love to try all the yummy dishes and treats and so much more with family and friends.”

The holiday season at Apex is more than just a time to celebrate; it’s a chance to reflect on the connections we share and the unique ways we each make the season special. From cozy pajamas to family recipes and festive feasts, our traditions remind us that no matter how we celebrate, the heart of the holiday is spending time with those we cherish. We hope that our team’s stories inspire you to embrace your own traditions and perhaps even start a new one this year. Wishing you all the warmth and joy this season brings, from our Apex Risk family to yours!
